Abstract
This article presents the main findings of the diploma thesis headed “Criminal behaviour of asylum seekers”, submitted as a part of the Degree Programme Social Work and Social Management at the University of Applied Sciences in Graz.
Asylum seekers are frequently being discussed in the context of politics and the media as a high risk group for criminal activity even though well founded analyses remain a rarity. Offside organised criminal activity, challenging living conditions in Austria indicate an increasing risk of offending within the everyday life of those applying for asylum
