Abstract
Untersucht wird die Frage, wie Sozialarbeiter_innen erwiesene und verwehrte Anerkennung im Spannungsfeld von Mikro-, Meso- und Makroebene erleben und welche Bedeutung diese Erfahrung für das berufliche Selbstverständnis und für Prozesse individueller Statusaneignung hat. Die qualitative Studie rekurriert neben soziologischen und professionstheoretischen Implikationen vorrangig auf Axel Honneths Anerkennungstheorie. Dabei findet die Sphäre der Leistung und des Verdienstes besondere Beachtung. Gezeigt wird, dass den Akteur_innen professionelle Positionierung und Statusaneignung primär im Kontext multiprofessioneller Kooperation auf der Mesoebene gelingt. Organisationen werden damit zu bedeutenden Orten, an denen die Leistungen der Sozialen Arbeit sichtbar und anerkennbar werden.

Starting from the premise that social recognition motivates social action, the question is explored, how social workers experience recognition on the micro, meso, and macro levels of society and how this experience is judged by the individuals regarding the professional self-image and the process of subjective appropriation of social status. Besides sociological and professional implications, the qualitative study refers primarily to Axel Honneth’s theory of recognition, whereas the sphere of merit and achievement will take special attention. The study shows that social workers gain professional positioning and subjective appropriation of social status mainly in the multi-professional cooperation of the organizational field, insofar the achievements of social work get the most reputation and recognition at the meso level of society.
