Abstract
The article deals with the cooperation between social work and the police in the community-oriented prevention of intimate partner violence in Austria. It examines the collaboration between the project StoP – Neighborhoods without Partner Violence and the police. To this end, the article assesses the influence of the historically grown, institutionalized interprofessional cooperation between social work and the police in the protection and the trend towards prevention. In addition, the article identifies a lack of clarity regarding the conceptualization of the community policing initiative GEMEINSAM.SICHER as well as a lack of well-founded social work science approach to prevention. The article therefore advocates for a power-critical and professional reflection of social work, taking into account the professional principle of the triple mandate and the concept of abolitionist Transformative Justice.
