Abstract
Ausgehend von der Bemerkung, dass sozialraumbezogene Ansätze in einer Vielzahl von Handlungsfeldern und neuen interdisziplinären Projektzusammenhängen im Rahmen veränderter Regierungsweisen zunehmend zur Anwendung kommen, dabei aber ein nur relativ kleiner fachlicher Kanon über Herausforderungen, Arbeitsweisen und Ziele der sozialraumbezogenen Sozialen Arbeit besteht, ergab sich die Hauptforschungsfrage der zugrundeliegenden Masterarbeit: „Wie rationalisieren sozialraumbezogen tätige Einrichtungen ihr Handeln im Kontext postfordistischer Stadtpolitik?“ Die Forschungsergebnisse dieses Beitrags sind als diskursive Anregung zur Weiterentwicklung einer selbst- und machtreflexiven „Sozialraumarbeit“ angelegt. Ausgehend von Thesen zu Dynamiken gegenwärtiger Stadtproduktionsweisen, wurden Reflexionsfolien entwickelt, die zur Erforschung dreier im 109 ha großen „Stadtentwicklungsgebiet Hauptbahnhof“ tätigen sozialraumbezogenen Einrichtungen (Zwei Anbieter aufsuchender Straßensozialarbeit und ein Stadtteilmanagement) mittels der Methode der Fallvignette in Gruppendiskussionen eingesetzt wurde. Auf diese Art werden Deutungswissen und normative Orientierungen der jeweiligen Einrichtungen in Form von Raumbildern und fachlichen Orientierungen sichtbar. Über die Diskussion der Ergebnisse zu den einzelnen Einrichtungen werden Hinweise, Risiken und Chancen formuliert. Die Ergebnisse weisen darauf hin, dass sozialraumbezogene Ansätze in Wien in zunehmendem Maße in, zum Teil widersprüchlich erscheinende, neoliberale Strategien lokalstaatlichen Regierens und Regulierens über die Koproduktion städtischer Räume eingebunden sind und an der Verwaltung der Aneignung städtischer Sozialer Räume mitwirken.

Socio-spatial approaches are becoming ever more prominent in a multitude of academic fields and interdisciplinary projects, especially in the context of changing Urban governance regimes, yet there is little common ground on existing on methods, challenges and goals. Starting from this observation, the main research question of the masters thesis that this paper was based on is: “How do social-space oriented approaches rationalize their actions, especially in the context of postfordist urban governance?” The findings of the thesis is aimed at contributing to the development of a self-reflective „Social-space work“. This paper aims to reflect the socio-spatial knowledge, orientations and practices of three social institutions (two street work services and one neighbourhood management office) which are operating in a social-space related manner in the designated 109 ha – sized Viennese urban development area around the main train station “Hauptbahnhof Wien“. Findings and theory on new forms of urban governance and the interconnected new spatial orders in the postfordist city have been adopted during the construction of the research questions. The method of case vignettes is used in a group discussion setting to reconstruct the actor’s spatial images, orientations and their inherent, explicit and implicit normative constructions and readings of this social space as well as their interrelated professional practice. In this way, the interpretative knowledge and normative orientations of each organization are reconstructed and spatial images and professional orientations become visible. In the discussion of these findings risks, chances and furthers notes are being discussed. The results indicate that socio-spatial approaches are increasingly being integrated in neoliberal strategies of local state governance and regulation of the urban fabric by playing an important role in the administration of the appropriation of urban space as well as co-producers of urban social space.
