Der Artikel thematisiert die Entstehungsgeschichte und Relevanz der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Soziale Arbeit (ogsa) im Rahmen des Professionalisierungs- und Akademisierungsprozesses der Sozialen Arbeit in Österreich. Zu Beginn wird die noch junge Akademisierungsgeschichte der Sozialen Arbeit beschrieben. Die Verortung der Fachkraft-Qualifikation im Hochschulsektor im Jahr 2001 stellt den Beginn der strukturellen Akademisierung Sozialer Arbeit in Österreich dar. Ausgehend von der Feststellung, dass der Akademisierungsprozess noch nicht abgeschlossen ist, wird die Rolle der ogsa als Ergebnis und Ausgangspunkt weiterer Akademisierung sowie als Motor für eine zunehmende Professionalisierung diskutiert. Sie ist aufgrund ihrer finanziellen und fachlichen Unabhängigkeit von Standortinteressen der Hochschulen in der Lage, die Disziplin und Profession Soziale Arbeit zu vertreten und zu fördern. Somit stellt sie eine wesentliche Säule im Wissenschaftsbetrieb dar.
Abstract
This article explores the history and relevance of the Austrian Society for Social Work (ogsa) within the context of the professionalization and academization of social work in Austria. It begins with an overview of the recent history of academization in social work, followed by a description of the establishment of specialist qualification in higher education. Notably, 2001 marked the beginning of the structural academization of social work in Austria. Based on the observation that social work is not yet fully academized, this article examines the role of ogsa as both a result of and a starting point for further development, as well as a driving force for enhanced professionalization. Ogsa’s financial and professional autonomy from university interests enables it to serve as a crucial foundation for representing and promoting the discipline and profession of social work. Therefore, it is an essential pillar in the academic community.
