Abstract

The following article deals with the topic of dying and death in an apparently existing class society with the main emphasis on the homeless. Based on two individual case studies in the context of social work in hospitals, a reconstructive case analysis is approached through casuistry. This reconstruction is an opportunity to propose theses, examine and elaborate on them.

Dealing with death is part of everyday life, not only job-related. But still, there’s by far not enough focus on the topic in professional training and social work discourse. The article aims to remind of the necessity of personal and social examination of the topics death and dying, which unites and at the same time separates people. Different conditions and the right to die with dignity are the main focus of attention.
