Communities in der Migrationsgesellschaft zwischen Zuschreibungsprozessen, Entrepreneurship und einer solidarischen Gesellschaft

Abstract

The article presents the findings of a qualitative research conducted in conjunction with the “Wien 10 Connection” project, which was carried out by Volkshilfe
Wien
. The project’s objective was to provide support to multipliers, so-called community leaders, in the implementation of community projects within Vienna’s 10th district. Following an introduction to the project, the article describes the opportunities and challenges inherent to such a project, based on empirical sources. These reflections are pivotal in addressing the significance of GWA in migration societies, the concept of community and the possibilities of destigmatising spaces. In addition to developing an understanding of the specific project, general recommendations for GWA in urban migration societies are presented. The objective of this article is twofold: firstly, to present the findings of the research conducted, and secondly, to provide a foundation for further discussion.
