Abstract
Die Nachverdichtung einer in den 1970er Jahren errichteten Wohnhausanlage im 22. Wiener Gemeindebezirk wird im Rahmen eines Smart Cities-Projekts professionell durch den Prozess begleitet – mit Fokus auf Kommunikation und Partizipation sowie durch begleitende Forschung. In der sozialwissenschaftlichen Begleitforschung findet eine Auseinandersetzung damit statt, wie die Prozessbegleitung so gestaltet werden kann, dass die Interessen der Bestandsbewohner*innen bei damit einhergehenden Transformationsprozessen konstruktiv integriert werden können. Eine erste qualitative Erhebung, die seitens der FH Campus Wien im Sommer 2019 – noch lange vor Baustart und unmittelbar vor intensiveren Kommunikationsmaßnahmen – stattgefunden hat, fokussierte sich auf die Wahrnehmung der Bestandsbewohner*innen in Hinblick auf die bevorstehende Nachverdichtung und beschäftigt sich mit Widerständen, die an vielen Orten einer wachsenden und sich verändernden Stadt zu beobachten sind.

The redensification of a residential complex, built in the 1970s in Vienna's 22nd district, is professionally supported in the course of a Smart Cities project – through process support with a focus on communication and participation, as well as through accompanying research. The accompanying research in the field of social sciences focuses on how the support and communication processes can be designed so that the existing residents' interests can be constructively integrated into these transformation processes. A first qualitative survey carried out by the FH Campus Wien in the summer of 2019 – long before the start of the construction of the new building and immediately before more intensive communication measures – focused on the perception of the existing residents regarding the upcoming densification and dealt with resistance that can be observed in many places in a growing and changing city.
