Factor in Public Spaces: Knowledge of Effects and Success Factors examined the effects of various community work approaches (GWA) in Austria. As part of the study, six heterogeneous social spaces where different GWA interventions have been implemented were researched using quantitative and qualitative methods. The research project empirically identifies areas of impact, effects, mechanisms of action, and success factors of GWA in both urban and peripheral public spaces. It demonstrates that community work is used, among other things, in transformation processes The article also addresses internal impact evaluation within community work. Potential approaches to self-evaluation as well as an empirically deduced tool for recording and reflecting effects will be discussed.
